The Lumis platform / research direction
A working model of your system, built for diagnosis.
Lumis is building one model of your services, pipelines, and data, so a failure can be traced to its cause, explained with evidence, for people to decide on.
Talk to usThis page describes where Lumis is going. What exists today is diagnosis, in the open-source SDK. Lumis SDK
Signals from many tools, placed on one model of the system: what depends on what, and which path the evidence took.
Diagnosis first.
Everything else is earned.
- An operational model
Services, pipelines, data and recent changes, declared and discovered read-only.
- Checks
Deterministic signatures for known failures. No model call.
- A bounded investigator
One tool-using agent, limited to approved queries, change records and code.
- Guardrails
Every claim checked against the evidence; “insufficient evidence” when it does not hold.
- A report for a person
The cause, the rejected alternatives, and what is still unknown.
- Acting within policy
Reversible, approved steps, carried out by bounded machinery.
- Verifying recovery
Explicit criteria; a completed command is not recovery.
- Learning
Confirmed causes turned into checks, with a person approving each one.
Research direction · deterministic over time
What the investigator learns, people can make permanent.
When the same confirmed cause keeps coming back, it should not need a model every time. The idea we are studying: Lumis drafts a deterministic check from the evidence, and a person approves, edits, or rejects it.
No check matches, so the bounded investigator gathers evidence and a person confirms the cause.
Not in the SDK today. The open-source SDK records investigations and human resolutions; it does not draft or promote rules.
Guarded autonomy
Autonomy is earned,
one boundary at a time.
Where we want to get is guarded autonomy. Where Lumis is today is diagnosis: the first two levels. Each step after that must be earned by evidence that the one before it is reliable, with people in control of every change.
Competing explanations, checked against the evidence, with what is still unknown. A person reviews the report.
